Renting & Delivery

How does renting from Active Lifestyle Rentals work?

It's simple. Choose your equipment on our rentals page, send us an enquiry or WhatsApp us, and we'll confirm availability and arrange delivery. We bring the equipment to your door and, when you're finished, we come and collect it.

How long can I rent equipment for?

Rental periods are flexible, from two weeks to several months. Most equipment is priced per month, the knee scooter also has a two-week price, and the SUP board is priced per day. If you need something different, message us with your dates and we'll confirm.

Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

No. We keep things simple, with no complicated contracts. Rent for as long as you need.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

We don't normally ask for a deposit. If you'd like to confirm the details for your rental, message us and we'll let you know.

Can I rent equipment for an event, a gym or commercial use?

Sorry, we don't rent equipment for special events, fundraisers, gyms or any other commercial use. Our rentals are for home use and rehabilitation.

Which areas do you deliver to?

We're based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town and deliver across Cape Town and surrounding areas. Tell us your suburb when you enquire and we'll confirm we can get to you.

How much does delivery and collection cost?

Delivery and collection starts from around R600, depending on your area. The rental prices on the website don't include it, so mention your suburb in your enquiry and we'll give you an exact quote.

How quickly will you respond to my enquiry?

We aim to respond within a few hours during business hours. WhatsApp on 082 378 2436 is usually the fastest way to reach us, or you can send an enquiry or call us.

Our Equipment

What equipment can I rent?
Do you rent exercise bikes and stationary bikes?

Yes. Our stationary exercise bikes include spin bikes, upright bikes and a recumbent bike, all available to hire for home use in Cape Town and delivered to your door.

What's the difference between a spin bike, an upright bike and a recumbent bike?
  • Spin bike: a studio-style bike with a flywheel for smooth, adjustable resistance and a forward-leaning riding position, popular for cardio training at home.
  • Upright bike: a more relaxed, upright seated position like an ordinary bicycle, good for everyday low-impact cardio.
  • Recumbent bike: a reclined seat with full back support, which takes strain off the lower back, hips and knees.
Is there a weight limit on the equipment?

Yes. The maximum user weights are:

  • Reebok Z-Power Upright Bike: 120kg
  • Slazenger Vertex Spin Bike: 120kg
  • Reebok GSB Spin Bike: 135kg
  • Trojan Endurance Rower and Air Magnetic Rower: 100kg

If you're close to a limit, or want to know the limit for any other item, message us and we'll help you choose.

Can I rent a treadmill?

Treadmills aren't part of our range at the moment. If you're after low-impact cardio at home, our rowing machines and exercise bikes are good alternatives. If there's something you can't find on the website, get in touch and ask.

Do you offer rent-to-own?

We don't currently offer rent-to-own. Our equipment is available for rental only, so you can use quality fitness and recovery equipment for as long as you need without the cost of buying it.

Can I rent a stand-up paddleboard (SUP)?

Yes. We rent a Stormfox Thunderstorm 10'6" inflatable SUP kit that includes the paddle, pump, leash and carry bag. It's priced by the day, from R600 for 24 hours, and delivery or collection is available. See the SUP kit.

Recovery & Rehabilitation

Which exercise bike is best for rehabilitation?

Many people use our bikes for low-impact knee and ankle rehabilitation. The recumbent bike has a reclined seat with full back support, which is often the most comfortable choice after an injury or surgery, while our upright and spin bikes suit gentle cardio as you recover. Always follow the advice of your doctor or physiotherapist on what's right for your injury.

Is a knee scooter better than crutches?

A knee scooter is a comfortable crutch alternative for foot, ankle and lower-leg injuries. You rest your knee on the padded knee rest and glide along, which is far easier and less tiring than crutches. Our Caremax folding knee scooter folds for easy transport and storage. Check with your doctor that it's suitable for your injury.

What is an inversion table used for?

An inversion table positions you at an adjustable angle to help with spinal decompression, easing back pain and pressure on the nerves, and improving flexibility and posture. Speak to your doctor before using one, especially if you have a heart, blood pressure or eye condition. See the Force Fitness IT30 inversion table.
